Glorious Golden WaterfrontHome is where life begins; it collects and preserve the stories of happiness and glory of its inhabitants. Based on the designer’s observations and insights in response to the client’s brief, bespoke metal structures were designed and installed at the entrance and on the ceiling. These pieces showcase exquisite craftsmanship and provide a richness and elegance that resonates coherently throughout this residential space.
Design Description
It is an advantage to be involved during the embryonic stages of a building project, which in this case allowed the designer to reserve a large open-plan living and entertaining area that widens and extends to embrace the outside view. The magnificent natural surroundings offer a priceless visual delight which provides the backdrop to this luxurious residential apartment.
As one enters the apartment, a lavish screen comes into view. Constructed out of a polished brass frame with thin-stone inlays, the conceptual design provides a metaphor of two hands blessing the three generations of the family. The harmonious upward movement represents the family as an eternal welling spring, echoing the dynamic movement of the waterfront view.
By making use of different flooring methods, the space is cleverly divided into an entrance hall, kitchen island, and living room. The ink-sprayed masonry wall behind the kitchen island is titanium-plated with striped glass facades on both sides. The color contrast divides the visual field and clearly designates the ceiling, floor, and walls. The enormous polished brass light fixture is a work of art that showcases the details of the sophisticated design, blending fish-shaped lines with winding river bends. In addition, it symbolizes the wealth and successful return of the homeowner, creating a unique visual concept in the living area.
The designer was inspired by the life story of the homeowner and added elements of the family spirit into the design, which incorporates a fusion of modern and new oriental classic styles. The influence of traditional Chinese painting can be seen in the living area, paying homage to the literary romance of ancient poetry and painting. In contrast, the modern fixtures like the luxury brass shelves in the study, the bathroom mirrors, washbasins, the neon silicone soft strip ceiling inlay lights reflect the homeowner’s strong family connection and dedication to comfort. The arc LED lighting was custom made in an L-shape to honor the family name of the homeowner. The corridor the private area is expanded to ensure ease of movement for the elderly members of the family.
The overall design was inspired by spiritual connotations and strong family ties but also celebrates a new chapter in the lives of the residents and a glorious return to their hometown. The luxurious residence is embellished by the essence of contemporary craftsmanship, using non-toxic and environmentally friendly building materials which totally refurbishes the aesthetics of culture.
